Married couple and marital coaches, Ray & Jean Kadkhodaian, shocked by a recent billboard promoting divorce, fired back with their own contrary message. One month after a Chicago divorce attorney's controversial billboard encouraging divorce was taken down, this Chicago suburban couple erected a billboard with an equally controversial message, "Life's short. Your marriage doesn't have to be."
"The current divorce rate continues to be an epidemic and depressing cloud overshadowing couples today," Kadkhodaian said. "This is complicated by the ease and normalcy of divorce portrayed in our society. We just wanted to offer couples another option."
Preventing divorce in countless couples since the start of their emotional wellness center, the Kadkhodaians sought to provide an alternative message regarding divorce, stating that, "not enough resources are spent on educating the public directly about divorce prevention options."
"In this day and age of being a 'throw-away' society, marriage seems to have become one of these disposable items," Kadkhodaian says, "This just adds to the pressures and frustrations experienced by struggling married couples today."
A successful marriage is rare these days as the divorce rate continues to be a concern for couples throughout the United States. The roles of men and women have changed over the years and, as a result, couples struggle to define just what a "successful" marriage is for them. One couple, Ray and Jean Kadkhodaian, provides couples of today a way to reconnect and redefine their marriage, to focus on the roles they play in their relationship and to create hope in their marriage together.
