While the Activote system provides a simple, valuable way to collect feedback from students, Activexpression will provide students with the opportunity to contribute thoughts, feelings and perspectives in response to more complex questions enabling even richer interaction, discussion and collaboration in the classroom.

Promethean will soon be adding to its market-leading family of learner (student) response devices with the launch of Activexpression, which previews today at NECC. Promethean's Activote is already popular with teachers and students because of its ease of use, Activexpression will extend the existing scope of response beyond any other product on the market today.
As a result of listening to educators in over 50 countries, Promethean developed the new device to provide students with a variety of ways to respond. With Activexpression, they can create quizzes and polls spontaneously, without prior preparation and the software included also provides a question master, which allows for the creation of question banks using the full-range of response types: Multiple Choice, True/False, Y/N, Multiple Response, Put in Order, Gap Fill words, Likert Scales, Confidence Checking & Alphanumeric response.
"Promethean understands educators' needs for flexibility, and is providing the roadmap for schools to conduct assessment in different ways," said Jeff Ritter, Director of Technology for St. John's School in Houston, Texas. "While the Activote system provides a simple, valuable way to collect feedback from students, Activexpression will provide students with the opportunity to contribute thoughts, feelings and perspectives in response to more complex questions enabling even richer interaction, discussion and collaboration in the classroom."
As part of Promethean's Activclassroom suite, Activexpression has been designed to meet the needs of teachers and students and will be built to withstand the rigors of the classroom. It will be the most versatile student contribution system available -- high-tech, yet easy-to-use and fun.
"We have seen overwhelming success with our existing Activote learner response system and with the addition of Activexpression, school districts will have a choice to implement the simplest student response system on the market, as well as a system that encourages higher order thinking and student collaboration," said Mark Bardoe, Chief Marketing Officer at Promethean.
Activexpression will also meet the needs of students. Students already know how to text message, so this cellular phone-shaped device is easy for them to use. It also provides easy one-click responses for quizzes, polls, and more. A large display and intelligent "hot keys" ensure that reading and responding to information is easy. Since the device is wireless and works using radio frequencies instead of infrared, students will be able to hold Activexpression in the manner most comfortable to them, and won't need to worry about pointing it towards the whiteboard or computer during use. Like the Activote, Activexpression will also offer an anonymous response mode that can encourage less confident students to participate in activities. Benefits of the system also include lightning fast response times, product updates received via the wireless system, and long battery life.
Activexpression will be previewed at NECC in Atlanta, GA from June 24-27, 2007 and will be available to purchase from December 2007.
