Seidel’s victory came in the $5,000 World Championship No-Limit 2-7 Lowball with Rebuys tournament against one of the most elite fields of any event in this year’s series. He claimed the bracelet after surviving a star-studded final table that included this year’s $50,000 HORSE champion, Freddy Deeb, Todd Brunson, and fellow Full Tilt Poker pro, Andrew Black.
After Shawn Sheikan was eliminated in third-place, Seidel battled Chad Brown heads up for more than 90 minutes before claiming the title and more than $538,000 in first-place prize money.
Seidel’s eighth WSOP bracelet ties him for fourth place on the all-time winner’s list with the legendary Johnny Moss. The only players with more career bracelets are Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson, who have 10 each, and Phil Hellmuth who won his record 11th bracelet earlier in this year’s series.
