Upstart pet food company adds four distributors and expects to reach 600 stores nationally by summer's end. New flavors use kobe beef, quail eggs, Shirasu and Kurobuta Berkshire pork

Weruva, manufacturer of all natural, human quality pet food products, announced a significant expansion of its product line to include chicken and beef varieties for both cats and dogs. By the end of the summer, Weruva expects to have an additional 21 varieties that all use human quality, exotic ingredients like kobe beef, quail eggs and Kurobuta Berkshire Pork. The company, which aims to provide an alternative to the mass produced, lower quality foods often found on the shelves of supermarkets and "big box" retailers, launched in September of 2006 with eight varieties of seafood based formulas for cats.

Weruva also continues its rapid national expansion with the addition of four new distributors which will introduce Weruva products into California, Florida and parts of the Midwest. Ultimately, the company expects to have its foods on the shelves of more than 600 stores by early fall.

"We continue to execute against our broader plan of growing our product line and widening availability across the country and we are delighted that it is going so well," said David Forman, President and co-Founder of Weruva. "The response from our first line of cat foods has been overwhelmingly positive and we expect that the new varieties of chicken and beef we will soon be introducing will attract the same level of praise and acclaim for cats, dogs and their owners."

Weruva has already debuted two new dog food varieties featuring kobe beef, which is regarded as the highest quality beef in the world. The line will soon be expanded to include additional formulas with kobe beef as well as a few varieties featuring Kurobuta pork, viewed as the highest quality pork in the world.

The eight new cat food recipes will feature a combination of boneless, skinless white breast meat chicken and high quality beef. All cat food and most dog food formulas will be produced in Wervua's human food facility using the same processes and ingredients used in the production of food products for humans.

"We're very excited about seeing all our new varieties on store shelves and are on target to introduce more varieties of both wet and dry foods for dogs and cats," Forman continued. "Our success to date demonstrates that there is strong market for pet foods that are safe and satisfying for both dogs and cats."
