TapeOnline.com, an authorized dealer of blank recording media and accessories, is now selling P2 card technology from Panasonic and FireStore Portable Recorders for tapeless recording.

TapeOnline, an authorized dealer of Blank DVDs, CDs, Mini DV tape, Professional videotape, data backup tape, audio tape, and many more products now offers tapeless media. The Panasonic P2 cards and FireStore Portable recorders are now available at http://www.tapeonline.com.

Panasonic P2 Cards are solid-state memory cards built for high-reliability. The card based media offers comparable recording capacity to tape-based media and disc media, with the added advantage of no moving parts. P2 cards can be re-written many times with no dropouts or degradation. At the moment, P2 cards are available as 8GB or 16GB, and a 32GB card is slated for release by the end of the year.

"The addition of these products has allowed us to continue to evolve with technology and not only sell tape, but also the new tapeless media that is coming out," says Stancy Tomlinson, Sales Director at TapeOnline. "We can offer our customers one-stop shopping for all their media needs. Whether they are looking for blank tape, discs, duplicators, ink cartridges, printers or a portable recorder, they can get it all from us in one place, at TapeOnline.com."

The FireStore Portable Recorder, FS-100, is an HD recorder designed to work with the Panasonic AG-HVX200 P2 camera and supports DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO 50, and DVCPRO/DV. It interfaces with the camera using a FireWire cable and gives 1.5 hours of DVCPRO HD recording time and comes standard with a 100GB hard drive. Recording and editing is easy because the data can be used immediately, without any digitizing or it can be transferred over a network.

The Panasonic P2 Card and FireStore Portable Recorder can be used together to increase recording time. By connecting the FS-100 to the HVX200 with a FireWire cable you can record to disc and P2 card simultaneously. This makes shooting on location easier and provides the option of a larger recording capacity by daisy-chaining multiple FireStore recorders together.

P2 and tapeless recording convenience does come with a price. The 16GB card sells for $885.00 and the FireStore portable recorders are $1799.00, which may serve as a deterrent. This high cost makes archiving on P2 prohibitive.
