Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 8, 2008
SolarWinds, a leader in network management software, today announced the appointment of technology industry veteran Steven Cakebread, chief financial officer (CFO) at salesforce.com, to its board of directors as the elected chair of its audit committee.
"Steve brings to SolarWinds a tremendous amount of relevant experience in building a high volume technology business model aimed at the mid-market and the departments of large enterprises at both salesforce.com and Autodesk. In addition, as SolarWinds goes through its growth phase, Steve's knowledge of managing a company through high growth and rapid global expansion will be important in his role as a Board member for us," said Michael S. Bennett, chief executive officer, SolarWinds. "We are fortunate to have him on our board and look forward to his contributions to our company's growth and success moving forward."
As CFO of salesforce.com, Cakebread is responsible for managing its global financial initiatives and elevating its software service deliverability. In August 2007, salesforce.com announced that Cakebread would be transitioning to president and chief strategy officer between February and April 2008. Prior to joining salesforce.com, Cakebread was senior vice president and CFO at Autodesk, where he was responsible for all of the company's accounting and corporate finance functions as well as the Information Technology Systems and Business Development departments. Prior to joining Autodesk, Cakebread was vice president of finance for Silicon Graphics World Trade, for which he managed accounting and finance, information systems, sales, and service administration. He also held many key positions at Hewlett Packard, where he gained experience in global finance for high technology.
Cakebread also serves on the board of directors for eHealthInsurance. He earned his MBA from Indiana University, and his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
