Business IT Online (, the London-based provider of integrated online business software for start-ups and small businesses, have been selected as a semi-finalist for the "Plugg Start-Up of the Year Award".

Plugg 2008 is a one-day conference to raise global awareness for European start-ups in the Web / Mobile 2.0 field. Plugg's Start-Ups Rally, a competition for European companies to showcase the most promising young technology ventures, drew 65 exceptional start-ups from 18 countries. The jury, made up of members of Europe's leading venture capital firms, incubators and renowned internet experts, selected 20 semi-finalists who will pitch the Plugg audience on stage at the event.

Business IT Online's very strong user-base of its pioneering sales management, invoicing and scheduling software applications won it a place among a very strong lineup of web and mobile businesses. "We are delighted to have been selected to present at Plugg", said David Cruickshank, a co-founder of the business. "To be identified as one of Europe's most promising web-based businesses is fantastic and comes as great recognition for all the hard work we are putting in to ensure that we continue to provide the very best online software service to our business customers."

Recent innovations in web development technologies and monetization models, as well as continuous evolutions in Internet culture and user behavior patterns, have resulted in a significant increase in new internet start-up ventures around the world. With significant developments in new technology, it is sometimes the small business sector that loses out by not having the funds to afford advanced tools that have traditionally been available only to larger companies. Business IT Online recognised this as a business opportunity and brings innovative, multi-user, web-based technologies to small business owners and even offers a free version to two-person start-up businesses to help them get started. Their extremely loyal customer base is extremely grateful for these highly secure and accessible applications which enable flexi-working from any location via an Internet connection.
