Becky Rolland, a paralegal at Frilot, L.L.C. was named as one of the experts in Carole A. Bruno's book Lessons From The Top Paralegal Experts: The 15 Most Successful Paralegals In America and What You Can Learn From Them (2008 Cengage Learning).
The criteria for the selection of the expert paralegals included individual achievements that contributed to expansion of the paralegal profession and improved the efficiency of performing paralegal duties. The panel of professionals who selected the final contestants included: William P. Statsky, paralegal educator and author; Therese Cannon, paralegal educator, author, dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Law, and member of the ABA Standing Committee on Paralegals; James Wilber, law office management consultant and principal of Altman Weil, Inc. (Milwaukee, WI); and Gary Melhuish, paralegal administrator, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver, and Jacobson, LLP, Washington, D.C.
Applicants were judged on their creativity, leadership, expertise in specialty, skills, knowledge and continuing legal education, mentoring abilities, career highlights, honors, awards and recognitions. In the Lessons book, each of these leaders share their techniques, tools, ideas, and methods that have helped them in their profession.
Rolland has been a paralegal since 1990. Her background and legal experience includes, bankruptcy, energy and environmental, real estate, corporate law and litigation in areas such as agricultural, maritime and personal injury. An active member of New Orleans Paralegal Association (NOPA) since 2003, Rolland has served on the board of directors and various committees of NOPA, Massachusetts Paralegal Association, and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations.
