Doba Co-Founder and Chairman will address latest product sourcing strategies and trends for e-commerce retailers

The key to increasing online sales and profits lies in the e-commerce retailer's ability to pick products that are in high demand and low supply and that are supported by sound marketing strategies. With those thoughts in mind, noted product sourcing author and expert Jeremy Hanks--co-founder and chairman at Doba (, a leader in web-based product sourcing solutions for e-commerce retailers--will speak at the seventh eBay Live! Community conference on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at the McCormick Place West convention center in Chicago, Illinois.

Hanks' is slated to speak about the latest product sourcing strategies and trends during a 10:00 a.m. presentation titled "Product Sourcing: Finding Products Buyers Want." Because of the anticipated popularity of the topic, Hanks' seminar--which is co-presented with Lisa Suttora of and Robin Cowie of Worldwide Brands--will be presented a second time during eBay Live!, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008.

"As recently as three years ago, retailers were in the driver's seat in terms of telling consumers what to buy, where to buy it, and how much it would cost," Hanks said. "Now, with the widespread adoption of blogs, social media networks, message boards and forums, and other Web 2.0 tools, consumers have essentially forced retailers to think differently about their product sourcing choices. For retailers to be successful in this "participation is marketing" world of ours--especially those who sell on eBay--they must adapt to the new rules of retailing, many of which I will discuss during my two eBay Live! presentations."

Chicago is currently the third-ranked eBay selling market in the U.S., so Chicago's e-commerce retailers can connect with Hanks face-to-face, right in their hometown. According to eBay's latest financial results, 83.9 million people and businesses bid on, buy, or list at least one item on eBay, transacting a combined $16 billion worth of sales.

Hanks is responsible for building and maintaining Doba's strategic vision and managing the award-winning company's investor relations. As a spokesperson for the company, Hanks has presented extensively at retail industry conferences and events on numerous topics, including product sourcing, entrepreneurship, and retail strategy and trends. This year's appearance at eBay Live! marks the fourth time in as many years that Hanks has been invited by eBay to speak to the Internet behemoths' top sellers.

Prior to co-founding Doba, Hanks guided the development of numerous businesses in the supply chain, wholesale distribution, and retail industries, including and e3vertical, at both of which he served as CEO. Through his current and previous business ventures, Hanks has become a recognized supply chain, product sourcing, and ecommerce expert. Among his many accomplishments, Hanks is an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award Finalist, and is the co-author of two leading retail industry books: eBay Inventory the Smart Way (ISBN: 0814473598; AMACOM Books) and of Drop Shipping For Dummies (ASIN: B0012FIJKU; John Wiley & Sons).

Hanks' current company, Doba, is an exhibitor (Booth #534) in the eBay Live! Solutions Center. eBay Live! runs from Thursday, June 19 through Saturday, June 21, 2008.
