Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 16, 2008
- Now in its 21st year, the CIO 100 Award is known worldwide as the most prestigious honor in the IT user community and is awarded to 100 companies and their CIOs for leadership in business, technology and innovation. For the third consecutive year, the Dallas-based humanitarian organization, MediSend International, has been honored by CIO Magazine with the coveted distinction. This year MediSend is recognized for applications developed to support operations and management of its biomedical technologies training and educational programs.
"The CIO 100 honors organizations that have used technology in innovative ways to generate value to the business," said Abbie Lundberg, Editor in Chief of CIO magazine. "Unlike other top lists, it's not just about who's biggest--it's about who's doing the most interesting and relevant things."
In 2007, MediSend expanded its mission of international medical relief, shipping medical equipment and supplies, with the opening of its Global Education Center (GEC), located in the Elisabeth Dahan Humanitarian Center in Dallas, TX. The GEC was founded in direct response to the worldwide need for trained biomedical technicians in developing countries. Trainees from developing countries are educated in the repair, installation, utilization and maintenance of biomedical equipment in a comprehensive six-month Biomedical Repair Training Program. They then return home as qualified technicians to apply the life-saving skills.
MediSend has developed innovative applications that allow professors and instructors to manage complex curricula and courses. Students can log into the MediSend system for key information such as research, schedules, assignments and grades. These applications are fully integrated with existing systems providing a complete view of both MediSend's educational and international aid activities. IT has been integral in MediSend's rapid growth and in its ability to amplify the mission of improving healthcare conditions in developing countries.
"Our processes and applications are in a constant state of growth and development. When we identify a need, we react quickly to develop a system that provides solutions," said Nick Hallack, President and CEO of MediSend International adding, "We are proud to be recognized for these efforts and to be honored along with such an impressive list of organizations."
The names of the 2008 CIO 100 honorees will be announced in the August 15, 2008 issue of CIO magazine. Awards will be presented at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony held in August at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
