Famous Amos Cookies founder Wally Amos has gone from rolling in the dough to watching his cookie empire crumble and provides his unique take on entrepreneurship in a podcast interview currently posted on IdeaTango.com, the social networking website that connects inventors with information, resources and tools to help them successfully develop their inventions.
IdeaTango.com CEO Bryan Daigle recently met Amos at the 2008 INPEX Invention Show, where the Famous Amos founder was the keynote speaker.
"Wally's story of going from rags to riches, and then back to rags again is not necessarily unique," said Daigle. "What is unique about Wally is that he changed his fortune and got back to riches again by simply changing his attitude."
Amos started and was later removed from the company that bears his name. After losing his business, he floundered until he discovered that his flair for promotion and inspiration exceeded his talent for baking sweet treats. He has used his fame to promote literacy for children and recently decided to open another retail operation selling cookies and toys.
"What inventors can learn from Wally's experience is the importance of believing in yourself and your ideas," said Daigle. "He is a compelling example of what a positive attitude and perseverance can do to launch a product."
