Red Bank, NJ (PRWEB) September 15, 2008
Privacyware (http://www.privacyware.com), an innovative provider of web application security, intrusion prevention and security data analytics software, today announced a partnership with SoftMail, a Korea-based provider of communications, security and IT infrastructure management solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, SoftMail will distribute Privacyware's full line of security software offerings with an immediate emphasis on Privacyware's award-winning IIS Web Application Firewall and Host Intrusion Prevention solution, ThreatSentry, to address the global rise in SQL Injection, cross-site scripting and other web-based threats targeting vulnerable web applications and host environments.
"Korean organizations are no less impacted by the recent sharp spike in Web application attacks than their counterparts in other parts of the world," said SoftMail Chief Executive Officer, Bongkeun Oh. "Based on intensive lab evaluation of several comparable IIS Web Application Firewall products, we selected ThreatSentry which performed most effectively against both known and new attacks. We are impressed by ThreatSentry's implementation of conventional policy-driven Web application security, but also by its use of AI-based behavioral analysis technology, which delivers protection from activity that does not necessarily map to a specific rule or signature, not found in competing products. Ease of use, out-of-box performance and affordability were also determining factors in our evaluation."
ThreatSentry is designed to prevent attacks and other unauthorized system access on Web servers utilizing Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and was recently awarded the 2008 Product Innovation Award in the Web Application Firewall category by Network Products Guide.
Implemented as an ISAPI extension, The ThreatSentry Web Application Firewall provides deep Web application analysis to address the full range of threats associated with Web application services such as SQL Injection, Directory Traversal, Cross-site scripting, Parameter Manipulation, Buffer Overflow, Denial of Service and other exploitive techniques and also helps customers comply with section 6.6 of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Other key ThreatSentry features include AI-based behavioral intrusion prevention, centralized management for multi-server enterprise deployments, and security alert notification.
"Our agreement with SoftMail significantly strengthens our ability to help Korean organizations reduce the exposure to disruptive attacks on their critical web-based applications," said Privacyware CEO, Greg Salvato. "SoftMail is one of Korea's most respected IT security services firms and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with them to provide effective defense against the alarming global rise in serious threats to web applications and related data."
ThreatSentry 30-day evaluation software is available free of charge via the Privacyware web site: http://www.privacyware.com or through an authorized Privacyware reseller. ThreatSentry pricing starts at $649 per server and supports Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 and Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0/6.0.
