1960 Beechcraft Twin Bonanza Excalibur Aircraft to Hit Auction Block Along with Aircraft Hangar at Western Michigan Airport

Aircraft hangar at Three Rivers Western Michigan Airport will be sold at auction along with 1960 Beechcraft Twin Bonanza Excalibur 800, a rare 1946 Johnson Rocket aircraft, dozens of scale airplane models, parts, manuals, equipment, tools and more.

United Country Beloit Auction & Realty (http://www.beloitauction.com) announces the auction of assets from the estate of Richard "Dick" Ward on November 8, 2008, at 10 a.m., according to Richard Ranft, auctioneer.

"Dick Ward's life adventures could never be put into a single paragraph," said Ranft. "He wrote many articles published in aviation publications as well as two books, Beechcraft Twin Bonanza: Craft of the Masters, and Flying Thoughts: An aviator's Flight Through Life."

"Dick was meticulous," noted Ranft, "as bidders will see on auction day. His "Forward Horizons" aircraft hangar is set up for any professional restoration project."

The hangar, located on the main ramp at Three Rivers Western Michigan Airport, measures 80 feet by 100 feet with expandable east wall. Features include: air conditioned office; full bath; radiant heat; 11x24 clean room; 60x18 bi-fold, fully insulated, metal wall liner door; explosion proof mercury vapor lights; 15x24 professional down draft paint booth utilizing Bonanza air mgmt system; 1-ton monorail; Epoxy floor; 2 walk-up lofts with 2,500 sq. ft. of storage; and security system.

Ranft said, "The airport is just minutes from Kalamazoo and South Bend, this hangar was custom built and has been meticulously maintained." He explained that the hanger is on leased property with an estimated $600 per year lease. The hanger itself has been valued at over $800,000.

"We will also be offering Dick Ward's personal aircraft," said Ranft. "A 1960 Twin Bonana Excalibur 800, which was recently and completely refurbished, including new leather interior and paint. Dick was a Bonanza aircraft enthusiast and president of the Twin Bonanza Association."

In addition, a rare 1946 Johnson Rocket aircraft will also be offered. "This is a type-certificated, high-performance aircraft," explained Ranft. "Restoration is underway with fuselage stripped, inspected and epoxy primed. Included in the sale is a professionally built, state-of-the-art holding and rotating fixture."

"We also have another interesting item," Ranft pointed out. "There is a Lycoming IO-720 A1A Engine which was purchased new December 30, 1966. It has Serial No. L-39654. The Engine has a total time of 222 hours since new. It is complete, preserved, and crated. Ready for shipment."

Also included in this auction are over 380 lots featuring: Twin Bonanza parts and seats; John Deere 2000 Series industrial tractor; over 37 aircraft models; vintage scale airplane models; antique showcases; Sky-Ox four-person oxygen bottle in carrying case; Eastern Aero Marine five-man life raft; nitrogen cart and bottle; aircraft hydraulic jacks; aircraft service manuals; vintage manuals, log books and aircraft books; vintage airplane parts, gauges and memorabilia; Clarke Vision 26 industrial floor scrubber; snow plane skis, side panels to fusel lodge, prints and other accessories to make a snow plane; fabricating and shop machines; power and shop tools; shop equipment; and much more.
