December is one of the loveliest months at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel and the perfect spot to enjoy a Georgia family vacation. All the trees in the historic district are festooned with twinkling lights, and the hotel is decked in all its beautiful Christmas finery. The Club celebrates the holiday with special seasonal activities and offers packages that make it an affordable way to enjoy this National Historic Landmark.

"The Club really does come alive at this time of year," comments Patty Henning, Director of Sales and Marketing. "Guests have an abundance of holiday related activities to choose from such as holiday high tea, storytelling, gingerbread house making workshops, and even a visit from jolly old St. Nick," Henning exclaims.

"One of our most popular features in December is the appearance of Scottish bagpiper Tim Akins as he heralds the season at sunset each evening, one week prior to Christmas, on the Riverfront Lawn," Henning continues. "Guests return year after year to enjoy his rendition of holiday favorites."

"My personal favorite is Holiday High Tea, where our chefs create tea sandwiches, savory warm scones and beautiful petite pastries served with fine teas. In the ambiance of the hotel's Grand Dining Room, it is an elegant and sophisticated way to savor the holiday season," Henning explains.

Along with a full calendar of activities, the Club also offers a special Christmas package that includes traditional accommodations with queen, king bed or two double beds, full breakfast in the Grand Dining Room, a Christmas stocking filled with goodies, and a special Jekyll Island Club Hotel commemorative Christmas ornament. Priced right at only $159 per night for double occupancy or $139 for single occupancy and is valid for stays from November 30 to December 29, 2008.

With so many unique and special activities planned for the month of December, those that are interested are advised to book early to secure their preferred dates. For a truly memorable Georgia family vacation, contact the club directly or reserve online at
