The percentage of gay men and women taking cruises has increased 76%. And gays tend to take a second cruise within 12-months. That's the results of an exclusive survey from http://www.holidayinsiders.com
Cruise companies are cashing in on the 'pink pound' a recent check with all the major cruise companies such as RCI, NCL and Carnival, almost every cruise had its own "Friends of Dorothy" cocktail party every night on board.
Our research showed gay traveller's frequently cruise more than non-gays. 98% have taken at least one cruise in the last 12 months compared with 22% 5-years ago.
The survey also found gay travellers are more than happy to spend their 'pink pound', stay longer, on average of 14 nights in UK & US hotels last year compared with an average of about three nights for all travellers.
And, Gay's spend twice as much on their holiday compared to non-gay travellers, they're also willing to go for 'higher-end' travel products, given their disposable income.
The world has changed to the gay market, given the current credit crunch and recent changes in law, many hotels, cruise ships and B&B's that previously would have turned them away, now welcome gays with open arms.
