Microsoft Names Berlin-Based Cloud Start-up to German "Incubator" Program

Initiative gives Zimory GmbH Technology and Marketing Support.

Zimory GmbH, a Berlin-based spinoff of Deutsche Telekom, announced today it has been added to Microsoft's "unternimm was." program - an initiative designed to support selected high-tech startups with intensive attention to accelerate their growth and technical development.

Zimory ( develops innovative software solutions for optimal utilization of IT resources in data centers - enabling greater use of cloud computing. As part of the initiative, Microsoft will work with Zimory to improve the interoperability of different systems and platforms and add support for Microsoft Hyper-V. In addition to technical support, Zimory will also receive marketing support --helping the company to expand internationally.

"Cloud computing is the path to greater utilization of resources, green computing and greater opportunity for resource users," said Behrend Freese, CEO, Zimory. "This Microsoft initiative will give us a strong boost forward."

Microsoft Germany's Founder Initiative called "unternimm was." ( was launched in April 2005 and helps accelerate fast-growing and high-potential startup companies. In this context, Microsoft partners with regional and federal governments, private and public startup support initiatives, as well as venture capitalists and other financial institutions to provide effective help.

Microsoft supports startups with both technical guidance (such as support with software architectures) and marketing and sales activities. Selected companies are taken on Microsoft Corporation campus visits to Redmond and Silicon Valley to better explore their opportunities within the U.S. market.
