2009 contest had 158 entrants; 42 winners awarded certificates

In January 2009, Xulon Press launched the Winter 2009 Christian Choice Book Awards, a contest which awarded certificates and prize money to 42 Christian authors for outstanding literary achievement in 14 categories. The contest, which was open to all self-published authors who released a Christian book in 2008-2009, had 158 entrants in a variety of categories that ranged from Christian living to poetry.

Receiving top marks were Grand Prize Winner Christopher H. Harvey's Until My Blindfold Comes Off, First Runner-Up William Stewart Whittemore's Ransomed: Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So, and Second Runner-Up Sandra K. Ortiz's Last Dance. Each of these books was selected by the judges to be highlighted in this shortlist of favorites. $1,000 in prize money was awarded to the grand prize winners, and they received commemorative plaques in recognition of their achievement as well.

As the first contest of its kind in the Christian publishing arena, the Christian Choice Book Awards represents a unique opportunity for self-published Christian authors to make their voice heard. And, thanks to this one-of-a-kind contest from the number one Christian publishing company in the world, authors will finally achieve the recognition they deserve.
