The American College, the nation's leading financial services educator, announced today that John J. Rocco, CLU®, MSFS, owner of the Rocco Insurance and Financial Group of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, is this year's recipient of the Samuel H. Weese Award. Rocco was selected for this honor in recognition of his long-term generosity and service to The College and its advancement efforts.
"The Foundation works to ensure that a treasured jewel that educates financial professionals will always be protected," said Rocco. "At a time when there is distrust of the financial services industry, we need to remember that there are hundreds of thousands of hard working, ethical, and focused people who make a difference for their clients every day."
The Weese Award is named for Dr. Samuel H. Weese, CLU®, past President and CEO of The American College who retired from The College in 2002. He was succeeded by Dr. Larry Barton as the eighth President and Chief Executive Officer of the institution.

Rocco earned both the prestigious Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designation and his Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) degree from The American College in 1966 and 1996, respectively. He is a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
Throughout his notable career, Rocco has been involved with such groups as the Boston Life Underwriters, the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters, and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Rocco is also a board member for several community groups throughout the Boston area.
