Updated Web Marketing Association' Internet Standards Assessment Report Includes Historical Data Derived from a Decade of Hosting Internet Award Competition, WebAwards, and Provides Best Practices for Fashion Web Design - The Web Marketing Association, host of leading web site awards competition WebAwards, released the Internet Standards Assessment Report (ISAR) to help the fashion industry learn to create more effective and engaging web sites.

"As the standard of excellence for web sites continues to increase, consumers (and WebAward judges) are increasingly picky about what they consider to be an effective web site," said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association, Inc. "The fashion industry knows what it takes to create an image for its products. Their Web sites are extensions of those images and invite the users to learn more about the brands which they identify with."

The WebAwards competition judges fashion web sites on seven criteria that combined create award-winning web sites:

  •     Design
  •     Innovation
  •     Content
  •     Technology
  •     Interactivity
  •     Copywriting
  •     Ease of use

New to the ISAR study, fashion was added as a category to the WebAwards in 2005. Since then they have generally been inline with the overall ISAR Index with a slight overperformance in 2006 and 2008. It is not surprising that fashion sites tend to score highest in design and content. It is also well above the WebAward average for design.

The 2008 WebAward for Best Fashion Web site went to Dolce&Gabbana srl for the Dolce&Gabbana Web site.

Other past winners include:

  • 2007 ID Society for Nautica Jeans Company
  • 2006 These Days for Bikkembergs Football
  • 2005 Organic, Inc for Tommy Kids Web Site
