The idea behind Creative Mailers.com is less = more. To send out fewer mailers to get more response.
But they have to be creative and stand out from the rest. On average it takes a postcard mailing 5 mailings to get noticed. That is more postage and more printing and more time. But with something so unusual that it is noticed the first time and maybe kept around a while, that can save both time and money in the long run.
"We specialize in finding unique ways to use the mail to get our customers noticed," says Jim Chilson, head developer.
"We have cell phones with the recipient's name printed in the outside window. Who is not going to open that? We have a 3D car that folds together printed with the customers text. Who is not going to keep that around?"
Those are just two of the company's latest creations. They also have a brochure with a pocket in the back to hold an item, such as a bag of sand and sea shells for a beach resort. They are developing a giant pill mailer, animal magnet mailers for a travel company, and key mailers, and mailers that can hold advertising specialties.
"Coming up with the right mailer for the customer's specific company benefits can be challenging, but it is also fun and when the idea comes together, it is very rewarding," added Chilson. "It is an art that benefits the customer and hopefully the recipient also."
"And we try to design it to get the best postal breaks too, and that can be another challenge." Chilson laughs, "They all groan when we go into the Post Office to get a project approved, but then they laugh when they look at what we have. I guess nobody else has done this to them."
Creative Mailers has been operating for about 2 years just outside of Los Angeles. They can handle any or all of the aspects of a mailing including list research and addressing. They can do postcards also, but their heart is really in "the stuff that can really get you noticed, but in a good way."
