For the fifth consecutive year, Global Traveler is searching the globe to name its 2009 1K® Global Traveler of the Year. The business travel publication has teamed up with United Airlines and its 1K® frequent-flyer program to find the ultimate traveler, one who embodies Global Traveler's mantra of globility, defined as the quality of being open to a world of cultures and experiences.
Open to 1K® members only, the contest requires entrants to submit a 200-word essay, answering the question: How does being a frequent traveler define you? How has it influenced other aspects of your life? How has it changed you? Eligible participants can enter at http://www.globaltraveleroftheyear.com.
The grand-prize winner will receive either a trip to New York City or Los Angeles. United Airlines will provide round-trip first-class transportation for two to Los Angeles or New York. Hyatt's newest brand, Andaz, will provide three nights' accommodations for two at Andaz Wall Street, with breakfast, dinner and a city tour, or three nights' accommodations for two at Andaz West Hollywood, including breakfast and dinner. The winner is also featured in an issue of Global Traveler and honored at the magazine's annual awards reception, held in January. The contest ends at 5 p.m. EST on Nov. 1, 2009.
