P2 Security's understanding of the Utilities industry and our unique needs is why we chose them vs. the competition
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 25, 2009
P2 Security, a leader in Web Access Management (WAM) technologies, today unveiled maXecurity 2.5, the newest version of its maXecurity appliance product line. maXecurity 2.5 features enhancements that address the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards (CIP), which were conceived to ensure reliability and protection of the bulk power system across the United States and Canada.
"NERC CIP has very unique requirements not seen in other industries. The procedural nature of these requirements begs for automation wherever possible and streamlining where human interaction is required. maXecurity is the only Web Access Management (WAM) product on the market that meets the specific needs of the power system owners and operators. For companies in search of a solution to the burdensome CIP requirements, P2 Security provides a cost-effective and easy-to-implement technology that addresses the key components of NERC CIP compliance," said Jeff Gresham, CTO, P2 Security.
The NERC CIP requirements addressed by the maXecurity product suite include CIP-004-1, R4: Access. maXecurity's exclusive automated entitlement reporting capabilities offer on-demand compliance reporting to specifically address the personnel access review requirements. maXecurity goes beyond the letter of the requirement with its built-in delegated administration features to streamline hierarchical access control (managers authorize subordinates).
The maXecurity products also address CIP-007-1, R5: Account Management. Instant, on-demand access reports, based on 90-day (minimum) audit trails are single-click actions. maXecurity contains no factory passwords that are required to be disabled, and all required password policies are enforced out-of-the-box.
"P2 Security's understanding of the Utilities industry and our unique needs is why we chose them vs. the competition," says Charles Khabbaza, President of New York-based telco QTel.
Currently, three maXecurity appliance models are available that support organizations of various size. maXecurity Basic supports 500 users, maXecurity Pro supports 5,000 users, and maXecurity Enterprise supports 50,000 users. Appliance models can be mixed and matched to scale linearly to any usage scenario from the smallest to the largest organization, and all integrate seamlessly with leading identity management products.
