Since their establishment in 1984, Forty Winks Franchising Pty Ltd has expanded to have stores within every state of Australia. As it stands today, all Forty Winks stores are independently owned and operated. The majority of owners that have joined Forty Winks have had extensive industry experience or have transferred from existing bedding or furniture stores.
To be successful, Kara Norris, National Merchandise Manager for Forty Winks believes that it is important to ensure all suppliers share the same vision as the company. This is even more imperative when it comes down to the supply of their product. "We look at the potential supplier's business as a whole, the infrastructure and whether they share the same customer service principles as we do," she says. "The way in which they run their business and whether it fits with ours is really important."
Being a national company, Forty Winks require suppliers to provide them with a nationwide service, which can be limiting as many companies are unable to service a 90-store network purely based on the volume of product needed. "We also have to ensure suppliers have representation in all states which enables all stores to be looked after regarding sales training,
new products and customer service," Kara notes.
