Bolingbrook, IL (PRWEB) September 2, 2009
Wi-Tronix was founded in 2004 by Larry Jordan and Michael Heilmann with the goal of integrating the latest in modern technology into the rail industry to improve railroad reliability, safety, and efficiency. In 2005, they were joined by Lisa Matta as VP of Product Development, and Duane Hong as VP of Customer Service. Together the four principles have expanded Wi-Tronix to a thriving organization employing over 40 full-time employees and servicing not only rail, but also maritime, mining operations and other industries with the need to monitor high value mobile assets.
The Wi-Tronix Wireless Processing Unit (Wi-PU) is a highly capable, general purpose computing platform that serves as the foundation of the Wi-Tronix on-board monitoring system. Our suite of products integrate with the Wi-PU to offer remote fuel monitoring, GPS location, asset utilization, wireless event recorder downloads and digital video health monitoring, snapshot and video downloads and much more. Our users are able to know not only where their equipment is, but what it is doing through scheduled system downloads, or On Demand wireless information retrieval.
We were installing our systems on locomotives within six months of opening our doors in 2004. Wi-Tronix monitoring systems are currently installed on over 3,500 mobile assets across North American railroads, with additional installations on order exceeding 2,250 units. Our customers include Class I, Regional, Shortline, and Passenger rail lines such as CN, BNSF, Rail America, Amtrak, and more.
The mission of the company has stayed true to the course set by its founders five years ago, and expanded to increase in scope as market opportunities have opened and new technologies emerged. Wi-Tronix long term strategy recognizes the important role of remote monitoring of high value mobile assets. The role we fill is growing deeper as the need to know what is happening out there, from right here, right now, grows more pressing in ensuring security and safety for both the private, commercial and government sectors.
WI-Tronix is excited to announce the growth we've experienced in the past few years, and look forward to servicing and growing our customer base for years to come.
