Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables hosts ACUFEST, an exciting and innovative day-long festival of acupuncture and healthy living.

The response has been overwhelming

On Sunday, October 4, 2009, mind, body, and soul will come together at Coral Gables’ iconic Biltmore Hotel for the first ever ACUFEST, an exciting and innovative day-long festival of acupuncture and healthy living. Whether seeking information or inspiration, ACUFEST will offer interactive exhibits, demonstrations, participatory classes such as tai chi and mediation, panel discussions, lectures, and organic food & wine tastings.

ACUFEST, the brainchild of renowned acupuncture physician and holistic practitioner Daniel Atchison-Nevel, will showcase diverse elements of the acupuncture and healing community. Those in attendance will have the chance to cultivate a healthy way of living through ACUFEST’s long list of features and activities including:

  • Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation by Leonor Murciano, Biltmore Spa Acupuncture Physician
  • Energy Healing by American Holistic Nurses Association
  • Medical Qi Gong by Dr. Bernard Shannon Executive Director of the International Institute of Medical Qigong
  • Feng Shui Lounge by Marisol Zinghini, Founder of Essential Ch’i
  • Meditation Chamber led by Ram Giri Braun Ph.D., Transpersonal Psychology
  • Total Performance Golf by Justin Bruton, Biltmore Golf Professional
  • Chinese Herbs Exhibit by Orion Atchison-Nevel, Orion Herbs Company

“The response has been overwhelming,” says Nevel. “ACUFEST has evolved into a magnificent celebration of the South Florida acupuncture and wellness community. From the University Of Miami School Of Medicine, to the acupuncture colleges and associations, local environmental organizations, and holistic nurses — there is a universal excitement about sharing and celebrating healthy lifestyles with the community at large.”

A number of local organizations dedicated to the health of the community have signed on to participate and provide attendees with information. Participants include Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden, Earth Save, Bike Miami, Operation Green Leaves, University of Miami Rosentiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science, Fertile Earth Foundation and many more.

In addition, some of the holistic community’s most celebrated experts will be on hand including Chinese medical doctor and author of the acclaimed book Between Heaven and Earth, Efrem Korngold and Dr. Stephen Cowan, a neuro-developmental pediatrician specializing in acupuncture and Chinese medicine therapies.

ACUFEST will conclude with an unprecedented Shared Acupuncture Experience, where 150 participants will simultaneously receive acupuncture in the largest assembled group acupuncture session in the Biltmore’s Grand Ballroom at 6:00 p.m.

Ticket prices are $25 in advance until October 3, and $35 at the door. Children under 12 are complimentary. Tickets can be purchased online at ACUFEST or by calling 305.460.6575 Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Biltmore Hotel is located at 1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables FL 33134.
