Gulf View Walk In Clinic announces the arrival of seasonal flu shot for the year 2009-2010. The best time to take the Flu shot is in September or October. But then there is a saying "Better Late than Never". You can get vaccinated up to the end of December. The flu usually runs from October to February.

We know that this year we are in uncharted territory. Federal Health Officials say there is plenty of vaccine for seasonal influenza this year. Each year 5% to 20% of the population gets seasonal flu, about 200,000 are hospitalized with flu-related complications, and 36,000 die.

Gulf View Walk In Clinic has two offices; one in New Port Richey on state road 54 (Tel. 727-844-5555) and the other in Spring HIll on County Line Road (352-666-5555). No appointment is required and people can just walk in. Gulf View gives anywhere 2000 to 5000 Flu shots every year at two of its offices.

The Flu vaccine is covered by Medicare and other patients pay $30 for the shot. Some insurances reimburse the patients. It is strongly advised to get vaccinated when you are healthy. You can not get vaccine if you are sick.

Pneumonia vaccine is also available that is recommended for age 65 and older or at risk patients every ten years.

Every body is waiting anxiously for Swine Flu H1N1 Vaccine that is being released in the middle of next month. Gulf View has requested 15,000 doses for Swine Flu vaccination that is being distributed through Health Department free of cost, only administration fee of $22.70 will be charged to Non-Medicare patients. The offices will hire extra temporary help and vaccinate people seven days, extended hours if needed.
