Elmira, NY (PRWEB) November 19, 2009
The Elmira branch of NII Barry Scott Agency, one of the largest insurance brokers in New York State, is partnering with Catholic Charities of Chemung/Schuyler Emergency Services Program and the Shabach Tabernacle Church to sponsor a coat and blanket drive and help make the winter months more bearable for those in need.
Now through Dec. 11, NII is collecting new and gently used coats and blankets at their office at 230 South Main Street during normal office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Coats of all sizes and blankets will be distributed to local men, women, and children in need. New hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens will be collected as well.
“Winter is fast approaching, so now is the time to help our less fortunate neighbors,” said Jessica Degarmo of NII Barry Scott Agency in Elmira. “A weatherproof coat or warm blanket can make a huge difference for those in need of protection from the cold. Emergency Services is a wonderful charity to work with and we plan to make this an annual tradition of giving back and celebrating the spirit of the holidays.”
“All coats are needed, but gearing towards the homeless population, we are always looking for mens’ coats,” said Suzianna Fritz, program coordinator of Emergency Services for Catholic Charities of Chemung/Schuyler.
