General Hearney has a first-hand understanding of the role that technology plays in supporting military operations
Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) January 4, 2010
Modumetal announced today the addition of highly-decorated, retired Marine Corps General Richard Hearney to its Board of Directors. Modumetal, based in the Pacific Northwest, is currently engaged in the development of advanced nanolaminated composites to enable lightweight, durable armor, thermal barrier systems and corrosion-resistant coatings that will provide for improved survivability, speed and equipment reliability for the United States military and for commercial, industrial applications.
"General Hearney has a first-hand understanding of the role that technology plays in supporting military operations," said Modumetal CEO and Chairman, Christina Lomasney. "He has shared a unique perspective of the strategic advantage of technologies like Modumetal, and has emphasized the requirements of the mission first and of the technology as an enabling agent. General Hearney has not only provided a clearer understanding of military requirements however. His insight into the application of military campaign planning practices to commercial product and market planning has already had material impact on Modumetal's commercial sector pursuits. We are honored to share in General Hearney's experience on the Board of Directors."
General Hearney emphasized Lomasney's vision of the future of Modumetal as he shared that "Modumetal's break-through technology can translate into dramatic improvements in protection, performance and reliability for our Nation's military and the commercial sector. The challenge now lies with this team to develop and implement a clear Plan of Action and Milestones that will get the Modumetal technology quickly and broadly into the hands of those that need it."

Modumetal is creating revolutionary nanolaminated and functionally-graded materials that will change design and manufacturing forever by dramatically improving the structural, corrosion and high temperature performance of coatings, bulk materials and parts. Modumetal represents a whole new way of producing parts and is leveraging nanotechnology to achieve this unprecedented performance. Modumetal is made by a "green" electrochemical manufacturing approach, which reduces the carbon footprint of conventional metals manufacturing at the same time that it redefines materials performance.
