WiseChoice realizes that a growing number of high school students are looking more closely at two-year colleges, largely due to the current economic climate, and we wanted to ensure that those schools were included in our database
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) January 14, 2010
With more families looking to financial aid to finance their children's college education, WiseChoice (http://www.wisechoice.com) today announced the debut of its State Aid Finder, which shows students what types of financial aid they may be eligible for within his/her state of residency, as well as from neighboring states - ranging from tuition discounts to competitive grants one can apply for. The online college guidance solution that uses proprietary matching technology to pair students with colleges that meet their academic, personal, financial, and lifestyle needs also updated its Scholarship Finder feature, which contains detailed information on 2.4 million scholarships worth more than $14 billion in student aid.
Additionally, WiseChoice recently increased its already extensive database with the addition of more than 1,300 accredited, two-year schools and nearly 1,000 four-year colleges. WiseChoice now features details on 3,725 schools in its "Explore Schools" section of the Website.
"WiseChoice realizes that a growing number of high school students are looking more closely at two-year colleges, largely due to the current economic climate, and we wanted to ensure that those schools were included in our database," said WiseChoice president Richard Taylor.
Among the newly added schools to the WiseChoice database are:
- Cottey College (Nevada, MO), a private women's liberal arts school with a high retention rate, on-campus housing, and a generous financial aid policy
- Western Texas College (Snyder, TX), a rapidly growing residential college with a competitive sports program
- Thaddeus Stevens College (Lancaster, PA), a selective, but affordable technology institute with a residential campus
- Chester College of New England (Chester, NH), a creative and professional arts school in a rural setting with a 100% five-year graduation rate
- Beacon College (Leesburg, FL) provides programs designed for students with learning differences and features a very low student:teacher ratio
Another newly launched feature that students, in particular, will appreciate is the WiseChoice "Essay Tamer," which was developed to make the often agonizing - and dreaded - process of college essay writing a bit easier. The comprehensive tool, which aims to simplify a difficult task and give students the confidence they need to write an exemplary essay, offers brainstorming exercises to help students choose a compelling topic and provides guidance to assist them at each step.
Launched in October, 2009, WiseChoice is the most comprehensive online college guidance solution currently available and features expert advice, scholarship information, personalized financial aid scenarios, school statistics, academic outlook and reviews by more than 100,000 surveyed college students. By matching students with the "best-fit" college options across all facets, WiseChoice aims to help students have a successful college experience both in and out of the classroom.
Unlike other college search and selection sites that offer limited resources, WiseChoice helps parents and students figure out how to pay for college, identify scholarships and financial aid, and develop a payment plan. WiseChoice can even calculate the true overall cost of college - including tuition, room and board, fees, travel, personal expenses, books, etc. - before students even apply to schools to ensure that students and their families incur as little debt as possible at college graduation.
