Dr. Mary Jayne Johnson has launched a web-based survey to collect data for her new book – Profound Pleasure. The concept behind the book and the site deals with sexual attitudes, behaviors and experiences and how they affect personal well being. After a soft launch of the site, surveys returned from five countries, across a 60-year age span, all income and education levels, and sexual preferences show remarkable agreement:
The 50-something woman from the Southwest USA
The 20-something woman form the Northeast USA
The 50-something man from the Southwest USA
The 30-something female from Italy...
...All agree that communication is the key to a positive sexual experience. On the other side of the coin, the over half of the respondents listed some form of selfish behavior as the key to a negative sexual experience.
According to Dr. Mary Jayne, “Those who have shared their stories with me have unanimously agreed that our sexual attitudes and experiences have a profound effect on our daily feelings of happiness, support and well being. Something as basic as feeling good about sexual experiences can make a profound difference in the way we face life 'outside of the bedroom'. Dr. Johnson will continue to collect surveys and blog on research findings throughout the writing of the book.
