Manguso joins Piedmont Green Building Solutions with more than 30 years of experience in managing major military and aerospace research and development and construction programs. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Piedmont team. He holds a Bachelor of Science from The United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Manguso served more than 20 years in the US Army in a variety of troop and research and development assignments. He finished his military career as Project Manager for the Strategic Target System, a major military development program. As part of his responsibilities, Manguso was charged with resolving controversial environmental concerns and land usage issues. He was selected for recognition as the Army’s “project manager of the year” for his performance in that position and was acknowledged in the US Congressional Record by Senator Daniel Inouye for establishing citizen advisory groups to ensure local community leaders were consulted and community concerns were addressed. He was also cited for strengthening environmental protection efforts while still accomplishing the military mission. For the last eleven years, Manguso has been a Senior Manager with the Boeing Company where he was responsible for the construction and development of new missile defense sites at military locations in the US and Europe. He is a long time resident of Huntsville and a member of the Alabama Chapter of the US Green Building Council.
Piedmont Green Building Solutions, LLC, was founded in 2005 by partners Beth Brodbeck and Chris Miller to provide high-quality consulting and training in green building practices. Piedmont works with architects, engineers, and construction firms pursuing energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly building projects. Further, Piedmont provides professional training on a variety of green strategies, including LEED Certification and corporate training for those seeking LEED Accreditation.
As active members of the Alabama Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, the Piedmont team plays an integral role in bringing green building practices to Alabama and the Southeast United States. Since their inception, they have trained over 2,000 professionals over a six state area and they have consulted on over 30 LEED related projects.
Piedmont was a 2009 finalist for the Green Educator of the Year Award from the Birmingham Business Journal.
