Manguso served more than 20 years in the US Army in a variety of troop and research and development assignments. He finished his military career as Project Manager for the Strategic Target System, a major military development program. As part of his responsibilities, Manguso was charged with resolving controversial environmental concerns and land usage issues. He was selected for recognition as the Army’s “project manager of the year” for his performance in that position and was acknowledged in the US Congressional Record by Senator Daniel Inouye for establishing citizen advisory groups to ensure local community leaders were consulted and community concerns were addressed. He was also cited for strengthening environmental protection efforts while still accomplishing the military mission. For the last eleven years, Manguso has been a Senior Manager with the Boeing Company where he was responsible for the construction and development of new missile defense sites at military locations in the US and Europe. He is a long time resident of Huntsville and a member of the Alabama Chapter of the US Green Building Council.
