The GigaOM Network, one of the premier technology media companies, today announced the appointment of Dan Silmore as Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing. Mr. Silmore brings more than 15 years of marketing and online media management experience to GigaOM.

Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing at AllBusiness.com, where he helped grow the business from a startup to its successful $55 million sale to Dun & Bradstreet. "I am thrilled to have Dan join us during this exciting time at GigaOM," said Walborsky. "He has been working in the online media industry since the market began and his experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow our company. His previous success with paid content offerings will be particularly helpful as we expand our GigaOM Pro research product as a leading example of disruption and monetization in this new media era."

Silmore started his career in 1991 as an account manager with PNC Financial Services Group in Pittsburgh and Chicago. He moved on to Wells Fargo & Co. in 1994, where he was most recently Vice President of e-Commerce Marketing in the company's Business Internet Services division. In 2000, Mr. Silmore became director of consumer marketing for the CBS HealthWatch site of Medscape, Inc. He then spent five years with MarketWatch in San Francisco where he was responsible for the strategic and financial management of the destination web sites, paid content strategy, project management, business intelligence and marketing.

"I look forward to contributing to the ongoing growth of GigaOM," said Silmore. "The company's unique formula of building communities and uniting innovators and partners through online media, events and research has taken off in the industry.
