Learner’s Edge Inc. is thrilled announce its donation of $5,000 to support six exceptional classroom projects submitted for funding by teachers from around the country. This is the first distribution of what will be a number of proposed annual grants delivered through the Learner’s Edge, Edge Fund.

Learner’s Edge is a pioneer in developing and providing continuing education services for professional educators worldwide. In 2009, the company introduced the Edge Fund, a special charitable giving program to help teachers obtain services and resources that are not readily available through traditional school funding.

Of the total applications received, six final recipients were selected for this first round of Edge Fund grant distributions totaling $5,000. Schools awarded Edge Fund grants include, Sycamore Trails Elementary, Bartlett, IL., The Bridge Academy, a Bridgeport, CT Charter Middle School., Skyview Middle School, Oakdale, MN, Pathfinder Middle School, Pinckney, MI, Chester Area School, Chester, SD and Trinity Christian School, North Branch, MN.

Projects to be funded include the replacement of an entire library of worn and dated books, the purchase of musical instruments, CD and audio tapes, classroom computers and other technology, and a project enabling middle school students to share their coursework with elementary students throughout the school district.

Joe Cotter and Kyle Pederson, co-founders of Learner’s Edge, have long wanted to give back to the profession that dedicates so much time and energy to development of our future leaders. “Both Kyle and I started our careers as middle school teachers and understand how challenging it can be to find funding for special classroom projects,” says Joe, “The EDGE FUND is another very tangible way Learner’s Edge can support teachers and provide great learning opportunities for their students.”

There will be multiple Edge Fund grants awarded to PreK-12 grade teachers in public and private schools in the U.S. over the coming months and years. Applications are accepted throughout the year and grants awarded in March and November.
