Annie Burnside is the Eckhart Tolle of parenting

Wyatt-MacKenzie Publishing in Deadwood, Oregon is an award-winning independent press founded in 1998, known for providing an unparalleled author experience. The first half of 2010 has brought publisher Nancy Cleary many reasons to celebrate, here are the top twelve:

The Glitz and the Glamour

Number 1. Every Laureate Gets A Book!
We're honored our book REINDEER WITH KING GUSTAF: WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR SPOUSE WINS THE NOBEL PRIZE is being gifted to every guest at the 60th Anniversary Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau. Author Anita Laughlin and her husband Bob, the nobel winner, will travel to Germany to host a reading on June 26 at the festivities. Listen to Anita interviewed by Michel Martin on NPR.

Number 2. Award Season 2010
We received four ForeWord Magazine Book-of-the-Year Award nods with a Silver win for THE FORTY-YEAR-OLD VERSION by Joel Schwartzberg. REINDEER WITH KING GUSTAF by Anita Laughlin, TWEEN YOU & ME by Deb Dunham, and BREATHE THE SKY by Chandra Prasad were all finalists. CALL ME OKAASAN by Suzanne Kamata landed on the 2010 IPPY finalists list, with three on the Indie Excellence list including THE MOMNIFICENT LIFE by Lori Radun and another win by THE FORTY-YEAR-OLD VERSION.

Number 3. Two Books Optioned
Wyatt-MacKenzie has optioned two of our books for TV/Film! Two fantastic screenwriters in LA are writing a pilot based on our 2008 CIA-mom book NATIONAL SECURITY MOM. And, author of our upcoming fall release WOMEN'S GROUP, Joyce Rebeta-Burditt, is pursuing a TV/Film deal for this part two of THE CRACKER FACTORY, a 1977 bestseller and made-for-TV movie. Joyce wrote and produced "Matlock" starring Andy Griffith, "Perry Mason" starring Raymond Burr, and "Father Dowling Mysteries" starring Tom Bosley and Tracy Nelson. She then created "Diagnosis Murder" starring Dick Van Dyke and most recently wrote and produced the Hallmark television series "Mystery Woman".

Cutting-Edge Caregiving Resources

Number 4. Major Media for PPD in Dads
Joel Schwartzberg touches on the issue of depression in dads in his collection of essays THE FORTY-YEAR-OLD VERSION. Last month a JAMA Report confirmed what Joel has been writing about for years -- the fathers can also suffer depression postpartum. Joel was interviewed by CNN, Good Morning America, NPR, and has been blogging on the Huffington Post.

Number 5. Parents of Children Suffering Trauma or Illness
Dixie Coskie, author of UNTHINKABLE, endured her son's traumatic brain injury, as well as her own caregiving crisis, and crafted her book as a much-needed resource. The Saturday Evening Post ran a feature article on Dixie and her son Paul Coskie, as did CNN. Her story was also featured in Louise Hay's brand new book MODERN-DAY MIRACLES.

Number 6. A Cure for M.S.
Sandi Selvi's WON'T DO STAND-UP IN A WHEELCHAIR is the documentation the medical world is looking for in stem cell transplant trials. While humorous, the message of this funny little book is life-saving. Released on the 10th anniversary of the author's stem cell transplant -- when Sandi stubbornly refused to become wheelchair-bound and opted instead, quite rebelliously, for a career as a stand-up comedian.

Number 7. School System Distress
A new documentary about a NYC Charter School called "The Lottery" is creating a nationwide dialogue about our ailing public school system. Karin Piper, author of CHARTER SCHOOLS: THE ULTIMATE HANDBOOK FOR PARENTS, was invited to view a screening, and is currently conducting seminars, workshops, and keynotes for organizations, schools, and parent groups on education choice. Karin's book answers questions many parents have about charter schools such as: "What is a charter school and how do they work?"

Number 8. Soul-Sickness
"Annie Burnside is the Eckhart Tolle of parenting," declared Bill Gladstone, agent to Mr. Tolle. At a time when our youth are starving for a higher level of living -- not financially but spiritually -- Annie's book SOUL TO SOUL PARENTING is the remedy.

Number 9. Alcoholism Recovery
Joyce Rebeta-Burditt's WOMEN'S GROUP picks up where she left off in her 1977 book about a young mom committed to a mental asylum for what was later diagnosed as alcoholism. Now, with 40 years sobriety, the main character shares a deliciously cryptic peek inside her career as a TV writer/producer, and brings the reader into weekly AA meetings frequented by unnamed celebrities, to share lessons of sobriety.

New Technology

Number 11. Audio downloads from iTunes and Amazon
Wyatt-MacKenzie has released our first 3 audiobooks through the leading distributor Audible.com -- TAKING THE POWER STRUGGLE OUT OF PARENTING with Sharon Ellison, CONNECTION PARENTING with Pam Leo, and the newly signed audio edition of the bestselling book PLAYFUL PARENTING with Lawrence J. Cohen.
