Legal 500, the widely respected series of guides that review the strengths and strategies of law firms in more than 90 countries worldwide, has recognized the Tax Practice of Los Angeles-based law firm Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (MS&K) and specifically honored three senior partners in the group.

Legal 500 recognized MS&K within its Domestic Tax section for West Coast lawyers and law firms. In its published evaluation of the firm's tax practice, the 2010 guide notes that MS&K's tax team has "expertise (that) closely matches the firm's leading position in entertainment and intellectual property, and the lawyers also have considerable skills in charitable gift planning."

MS&K's Tax Practice provides services to corporate, partnership, nonprofit and individual clients, and the firm's expertise extends to all aspects of federal, state and international tax matters.

In particular, Legal 500 recognized MS&K partner David Wheeler Newman, an expert in a state and individual tax planning who heads up the practice, partner Jeffrey Davine, who served as an attorney with the IRS and has handled a wide range of matters involving employee-related federal and state tax disputes, and partner Robert Lowe, who serves client needs in all areas of employee benefits and executive compensation.

The 2010 guide notes that Newman "is regarded by clients as a leader in his field and an excellent and dynamic lawyer," Davine "is recommended for his considerable skills and negotiation with tax authorities" and Lowe "(is recommended) for highly sophisticated knowledge in employee benefits tax and regulation."

Published for more than 20 years, the Legal 500 series provides the most comprehensive worldwide coverage currently available on legal services providers. The guides are used by commercial and private clients, corporate counsel, CEOs and professional advisers - as well as by other referrers of work both nationally and internationally.
