"Because of all the hype, mobile programs represent a great opportunity to lose a lot of time and money, or even fail miserably,” Borrell said. “Timing is vitally important. Do you jump in now and build out apps for iPhones and Droids, or do you wait?"
Williamsburg, VA (PRWEB) August 6, 2010
Borrell Associates has announced the latest additions to its slate of more than two dozen speakers for its upcoming Local Mobile Advertising Conference, and the lineup represents not a "Who's Who" but a “Who’s Doing What’s Working” in the local mobile space. The updated lineup of speakers, agenda, and list of companies attending, can be found at Borrell’s conference site http://www.borrellassociates.com/mobile.
The three-day agenda Sept. 27-29 at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas includes presentations from leading executives and mobile strategists from media companies such as Gannett, AdMob, CBS, AT&T, Cox, Freedom, The Associated Press, Scripps, Nexstar, Belo, Meredith Broadcasting, Clear Channel and others. They will address their strategies for attacking the local mobile advertising space, which Borrell forecasts will hit $500 million this year and double to $1 billion in 2011.
"What everyone needs is a basic understanding of what’s working and what to plan for,” said Gordon Borrell, CEO of Borrell Associates. “If you’re expecting to learn about more cool things to do in the local mobile space, you’ll be disappointed. These speakers have been screened carefully to select those who can address the here-and-now reality of what’s selling on mobile devices. They’re steeped in the technology, but very well grounded by what actually works.”
The conference begins Sept. 27 with a workshop that will lay the groundwork to understand the latest technologies and techniques for successful mobile marketing campaigns. The workshop will be anchored by Borrell senior vice president Peter Conti Jr. and in-house mobile and social media expert Sandy Martin, with help from Jeff Hasen, co-creator of MMA Mobile Certification Program and Konny Zsigo, President of Wireless Developer Agency.
Kicking off the main conference will be keynote presentations by Deseret Media CEO and former Harvard professor Clark G. Gilbert, and scene-setters/welcoming messages from Nexstar Broadcasting CEO Perry Sook, Dallas Morning News President & CEO James H. Moroney III, and Mobile Marketing Association Managing Director Michael Becker.
In addition, the conference will feature a keynote from David Krantz, CEO, AT&T Interactive, the largest local online advertising company. AT&T will generate more than $1 billion in interactive ad revenues this year, nearly 40% more than the next-largest local media company. It has begun to devote significant resources to the mobile space.
Other speakers added to the agenda include:
- Greg Sterling, senior analyst with Opus Research, who will be moderating four back-to-back Local Media Strategies sessions with key industry executives
- Joy Liuzzo, Senior Director of Marketing & Mobile Research for InsightExpress
- Douglas Bennett, President of Freedom Interactive
- Tim Reynolds, Director of Interactive Media at Meredith Broadcasting
- Adam Symson, Vice President, Interactive at Scripps Media, Inc.
- Sandhi Kozsuch, Director Mobile Broadcasting for Cox Media Group
- Jeffrey Litvack, General Manager of Global Product Development, The Associated Press

“Because of all the hype, mobile programs represent a great opportunity to lose a lot of time and money, or even fail miserably,” Borrell said. “Timing is vitally important. Do you jump in now and build out apps for iPhones and Droids, or do you wait? These are the key questions our speakers will be able to answer.”
