The rumors of a BP travel deal in Florida have proven to be true. BP is putting its money to work to help stimulate tourism along the Florida panhandle. The deal applies to any traveler who books and travels between August 2nd and Labor Day. Requirements include that your stay be at one of the designated resorts or hotels (don’t worry there are hundreds of options included) and that you stay for a minimum of three nights. There are some finer points that you can read about but it is a pretty straight forward offer. Click here more information about this Florida travel deal.
BP, working with local tourism development councils is offering vacationers their choice of a $250 gift card good either at Silver Sands Factory Stores, the nation’s largest designer factory outlet, or for future travel on Southwest Airlines, which began non-stop service to Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in May. The sandy white beaches are beautiful and open for enjoyment. The communities are pulling out all the stops with new activities and events. On Sunday August 15th, Josh Thompson will open for the iconic Lynyrd Skynyrd at The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island (Newman Brackin Wayside County Beach Park at 1450 Miracle Strip Parkway, Ft. Walton Beach) as part of the continuing Rock the Beach Free Concert Series. Also, the Grand Blvd has been host to Le Grand Cirque for the past 100 days.

Destin is a favorite for millions of vacationers. Late summer trips to the beach have always been great. But for many families, school starts in early to mid August. This is a great opportunity for travelers who wish to go the beach but want to avoid the crowds. The DiscoverOurTown travel staff spent much of July traveling in the Florida Panhandle. The beaches that made the Florida Panhandle famous were as clean and fluffy white as ever. We made our initial plans to visit this area of the country to support the local hoteliers and restaurateurs in the midst of the spill. We couldn't have made a better decision for our summer plans. Unfortunately, most business owners that we spoke with said business was off by 50%. In an interesting reflection on human nature, the day that the wellhead was capped and the news stopped running images of the spewing oil, the hotel owners said their phones started to ring.
This special promotions is being paid for by BP, and implemented in conjunction with the local tourism boards, to simulate travel along the Gulf Coast. Make a reservation and travel between now and Labor Day and receive a $250 credit to spend at Silver Sands Outlet Mall in Destin / Miramar Beach or for a future flight of your choice on Southwest Airlines. Read the promo details for the specifics of course.
