Late last year, our clients started asking about mobile commerce. They wanted to provide their customers and potential customers the best access to the brand from anywhere

Shopatron announced today that it has launched over 600 mCommerce stores for its client brands. As the leading provider of eCommerce for branded manufacturers in the US and Europe, Shopatron’s announcement marks a major milestone for the mobile web. With the arrival of significant brands like JL Audio, Mizuno, Head Tyrolia, Scott, Segway, Stanley Furniture, Ernie Ball and Wild Birds Unlimited, Shopatron has given branded manufacturers a major representation on mobile phones.
When shoppers using common mobile devices, such as Blackberry, Palm, Android or the iPhone, type in the URL of any of the over 600 eCommerce stores, they will automatically be redirected to a mobile-optimized version of the online store.
The mCommerce sites provide detailed product information, such as product specifications, pricing and detailed imagery. Additionally, they offer features such as alternate views, “contact us” forms, featured products, shopping cart, site search and product zoom.
“Late last year, our clients started asking about mobile commerce. They wanted to provide their customers and potential customers the best access to the brand from anywhere,” stated Sean Collier, CIO and VP of Product at Shopatron. “Let’s say a shopper is in a shop considering a product from Mizuno and a competitive brand. Mizuno wants to provide all information possible to convince the customer to buy their product, whether they buy the product online or in the store. As with their eCommerce site, Mizuno uses their mCommerce site to support their retail partners, not compete with them.”
Shopatron stores client product data in a standardized model that allows the company to quickly repurpose that data into new formats; in this case a mobile-optimized online shop. After this initial standard release, clients will be able to customize their sites as they wish. “These mobile stores are 100% customizable, just like our clients’ eCommerce stores,” Collier confirms.
“One of the reasons we entered into a relationship with Shopatron was because they could keep us at the forefront of eCommerce,” stated Keith Neely, VP of Customer Support of Mizuno USA. “We expect Shopatron, as a partner, to bring things like mobile commerce to the table. It’s fantastic that they can take our eCommerce storefront and optimize it for mobile without us having to pay for new development.”
“This is the ‘power of many’ we always talk about,” added Collier. “By having over 800 brands working together on one platform, they can share in the advances such as the evolution of our onBlocks website platform into mCommerce.”
Founded in 2001, Shopatron is the only retail-integrated eCommerce solution for branded manufacturers, distributors, and multi-channel retailers. Working with over 800 manufacturers and 12,000 retail partners across 35 industries, Shopatron offers an innovative and flexible approach to eCommerce that matches the unique needs of branded manufacturers and multi-channel retailers.
With Shopatron's solution for branded manufacturers, Coex Freedom, brands sell on their website and send those orders to their retail partners for fulfillment. This solution eliminates channel conflict, builds retailer relationships, grows distribution and increases overall sales for the brand. Shopatron’s solution for multi-channel retailers, Coex Private, allows retailers to fulfill orders from all inventory centers, including both retail stores and distribution centers. Shopatron's distributed order management model also enables in-store pickup and ship-to-store capabilities that drive traffic into brick-and-mortar locations for additional services and add-on sales.
Shopatron clients include top brands such as Callaway Golf, Suzuki, Polaroid, Mizuno, Ducati, JL Audio, American Tire Distributors and Sport Chalet. The company is headquartered in San Luis Obispo, CA. For more information and a full client list, visit: ecommerce.shopatron.com.
