Summit Medical Group hosts its first Live Well Sports and Health Festival, Sunday, October 3, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., on its campus at 1 Diamond Hill Road, rain or shine. Special guests include Shannon Miller; the most decorated American gymnast in US History and Tim Morehouse, Beijing silver medallist in Fencing.

Summit Medical Group hosts its first Live Well Sports and Health Festival, Sunday, October 3, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., on its campus at 1 Diamond Hill Road, rain or shine.

This free sports and healthy living festival is open to the public and features indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family, including:

  •     Golf Simulator and Putting Challenge
  •     Sports Performance and Injury Prevention Counseling
  •     Exercise and Nutrition Programs
  •     Makoto Fitness Training
  •     Rock Climbing Wall
  •     Baseball and Lacrosse Cages
  •     Soccer Drills and Skills
  •     Hockey Plyometric Training and Shot Station
  •     Table Tennis
  •     Tai Chi Instruction
  •     Hay Maze
  •     Face Painting and Other Artists
  •     Music and Refreshments

Special guests include Shannon Miller; the most decorated American gymnast in US History. Miller will be on hand to meet and greet and to promote her organization, the Shannon Miller Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting childhood obesity. Through Shannon's passion for children and fitness, she strives to make a positive impact on their health through education and awareness of the health risks associated with this disease. The Shannon Miller Foundation offers children the opportunity to be physically active, and gain greater nutritional knowledge.

Tim Morehouse, Beijing silver medallist in Fencing, will also be on hand to meet and greet guests. Morehouse fenced with President Obama in the White House this past spring and was the subject of a recent model makeover by New York magazine. He’ll share tips about his nutrition and training as he prepares for the London 2012 Olympics.
