GOOD Worldwide LLC, the integrated media company for people who want to live well and do good, has acquired Brighter Planet’s Wowcrowd, a crowd-sourcing and funding allocation web application. Wowcrowd, originally developed by Brighter Planet for its environmental grant program, is currently being used to help fund actions for 350.org’s 10/10/10 Work Parties.
GOOD, which launched its media properties in 2006, will integrate the application to fortify its increasing presence in the technology for social good space, better enabling individuals, businesses, and nonprofits to do good. GOOD Projects, the agency offshoot of GOOD Worldwide, is a partner in the Pepsi Refresh Project, which continues to connect a record number of great ideas for positive change with millions of funding dollars through social media outreach. With Wowcrowd, GOOD will build upon its success in this space to work with organizations of all sizes, including its own fund project set to launch later this year.

Over the last ten months, Brighter Planet has used Wowcrowd to allocate $50,000 in grants to climate-related projects, receiving the Financial Times 2010 Social Innovation Award for Strategic Philanthropy for its program.
