What jewelry is in style for this fall? The answer might not be what you think. But looking at what stars are wearing, you might understand why OrientalPearls.net is adding pewter to its array of offerings for an exquisite twist on the traditional look

This fall, simplistic jewelry is coming back in style. Simple beads, gemstones, pearls - and pewter. The metal blend is heavy and rich looking, and can be formed into almost any shape imaginable, making it the perfect material for home artisans looking to create unique pieces of art.

“With actresses like Cheryl Hines sporting pewter earrings to red carpet events, it’s hard to ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ for such a simple, elegant style,” laughs Lan Toma, spokesperson for fine freshwater pearl and jewelry wholesaler at http://www.OrientalPearls.net. “People saw Cheryl’s earrings and the buzz was instantly all about ‘where can I find pewter?’”

In response, OrientalPearls.net is launching their own line of pewter charms, beads and findings, allowing crafters to create their own pewter earrings, charm bracelets and necklaces.

“We carry all sizes, shapes and styles of pewter rondelles and beads, plus a wide variety of charms, pendants and hoops,” says Toma. “We feel that this is a natural addition to our line - we’ve been adding precious and non-precious metal jewelry for some time to enhance our freshwater pearl offerings, and pewter is obviously going to be the next big thing.”

Pewter is soft, which means it can be used alongside pearls for blended creations that mesh the old, tarnished look of pewter with the pure flawlessness of gleaming freshwater pearls. “We expect to see a lot of artisans doing crossover pieces,” comments Toma. The pewter findings and charms are inexpensive, and to be sold singly (in the case of larger charms) or in groups of ten for smaller beads and roundels.

“The contrast is just too good - and the pewter really sets off pearls. A strung pearl bracelet with pewter charms would be amazing, or a necklace with a pewter pendant. We have these rings with a jump hoop, and I can just see combining that with a teardrop pearl for a set of dropped pearl earrings that would definitely turn heads.

“Pewter has a distinctive look that sets it apart from silver or gold; instead of a bright shine, pewter almost seems to glow softly from within, making it the perfect accompaniment to pearls. This is a look that will be just as perfect matched with a ball gown as with a ripped jeans, ‘Goth’ style,” Toma concluded.
