The Digital Village provides a community web portal designed to enhance management communications and offer new online technologies to the Poinciana homeowners - hyper local news, social clubs and groups, smart meters, tele-work, tele-education and more!

“The digital village enables a truly ‘Smart Community’, with the web portal becoming the core of all of the technology that serves the community as a whole" Jason Scutt, Smart Community Inc.

The Association of Poinciana Villages, the largest Homeowner Association in the United States, is launching its newest amenity: Poinciana Digital Village. The site could be seen at More than a standardized web portal, residents living in the Poinciana will be able to view real-time community news, announcements of planned activities and meetings, as well as tailor their personalized home site to their own individual interests.

Residents will have quick and easy access to what’s going on in and around the Poinciana Community. Civic and Governmental groups will have the opportunity to create their own home pages to enhance information sharing with the residents. Digital Village also provides the opportunity for local businesses to benefit from coupon offerings, hosted web pages and on-site advertising.

Similar to social sites (Facebook, MySpace, etc.), Digital Village creates a true community portal where the information on the site is relevant to the homeowners and easy to navigate. With the ability to post items to their personal calendars, store household documents, pay homeowner fees, communicate with groups and clubs and find local businesses, the Digital Village homeowners’ portal creates one point of information dissemination that further enhances the Association of Poinciana Villages’ communication with residents.

“The possibilities with this new system are endless and we are thrilled to be able to offer this hands-on amenity to all of our residents,” states Jeanette Coughenour, Association Manager, “For residents who are new to Poinciana, and looking for various services, they will now be able to become acclimated to the area very quickly.” “Another very appealing aspect of Smart Community’s Digital Village is the ‘Green’ aspect of this portal”, continues Ms Coughenour. “By reducing the need for direct mail, from local businesses as well as our own association, to reach our residents we are doing a great service to reduce waste. We feel this is a very important benefit to implementing this amenity.”

Poinciana Communities, located in Central Florida, is the largest planned community in the United States with 20,000 homes and more than 7,000 lot owners. With a community association of this size Poinciana Digital Village anticipates over 500,000 unique page views per month.

“The digital village enables a truly ‘Smart Community’, with the web portal becoming the core of all of the technology that serves the community as a whole. And aside from the benefit to the association, local businesses, schools, service providers and the municipality are also able to utilize the platform to enhance their communications and offer enhanced services – tele-work, tele-communication, smart meters/thermostats, security, concierge services and more,” states Jason Scutt, a principal of Smart Community, Inc. “Service providers, such TV, cable and Internet are also able to introduce new products and services via the platform ultimately creating a winning situation for all participants.”

As with any web portal, Poinciana Digital Village will continue to evolve over time to meet the ever changing needs of its users.
