Hood Prep Clothing can be characterized as Ralph Lauren Clothing meets streetwear clothing--with a twist. The Spring 2011 Collection clearly expresses the attitude ; I dress Hood Prep, I wear Hood Prep, I am Hood Prep.

Hood Prep clothing is making a strong impression on the hip hop fashion scene. This New Orleans-based hip hop clothing embraces a style that is just as the name implies: a hot combination that contrasts hood and preppy clothing styles. This fashion line is very closely inspired by the trends and styles of New Orleans. Co-owner of Hood Prep clothing, Alfonzo “Zo” Bolden, explains some of the inspirations for the line: “The local New Orleanians in the late 80’s and early 90’s would shop at the Ralph Lauren Polo Store for the latest Polo shirts, then, they were off to All American jeans to buy the infamous African-cut Girbaud Jeans. Their last stop was at the Bally shop for the Animal sneakers, or the Gucci shop for the latest loafers, or Footlocker for the Adidas Forums. They would coordinate their gear in that Hood Prep style; included with the style was that attitude of FRESHNESS. We were part of that era and wanted to create a brand that would capture that style.”

Hood Prep clothing started in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2004. The brand is owned by brothers, Alfonzo D. Bolden and Troy A. Bolden who observed the styles of the local people of New Orleans and knew that the “hood prep” style was something that could catch on across the nation. This innovative streetwear line is inspired by the unique style of New Orleans, as well as trends from the 80’s and 90’s. The company has an all-star design team of Troy Chivers and a member that have an impressive track record designing for other iconic brands such as Zoo York, Buffalo Jeans, and The Brooklyn Circus. Nothing but success is anticipated for Hood Prep clothing in the upcoming year.

Since 2004, Hood Prep clothing has found success with every release including The Dream Collection and The Formula Collection. With previous releases they have only distributed to a handful of srtreetwear boutiques; however, the demand for Hood Prep clothing has been consistent and stays high. The designers use a number of different concepts in their designs, whether it is verbal messages or abstract artistic creations. Clothing fans also love the line’s graphic tees that feature vivid colors and edgy designs. In spring 2011, the label is planning to release a new streetwear collection that co-owner Alfonzo Bolden says “will define Hood prep”. That is something hip hop clothing fans won’t want to miss out on! Hood Prep clothing is not all tees. Also, Hood Prep creates everything from oxfords to polos, and much more.
