Jenzabar®, Inc., a leading provider of software, services and strategies for higher education, announced today that Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) has chosen Jenzabar’s Retention Management Solution (Jenzabar RMS) to help create a sustainable student retention strategy. In an era of growing competition and shrinking resources, supporting student success to ensure that students remain enrolled and ultimately graduate has become a crucial goal for institutions of higher education.

Prior to choosing Jenzabar’s Retention Management Solution, Harris-Stowe State University was experiencing minimal success with its current retention technology, and many signs of decreased retention were being overlooked. HSSU started an initiative designed to investigate new ways of using technology and sought a reliable, holistic approach to examining student success at the university. Jenzabar RMS was chosen to help HSSU understand retention issues beyond a student’s academic experience, identify key indicators of student success specific to the university, and implement a long-term retention strategy.

“During a meeting with the Jenzabar team, it became clear that a powerful solution was at hand in Jenzabar’s Retention Management Solution,” said James Fogt, Director of Information Technology at Harris-Stowe State University. “Executives at Harris-Stowe quickly realized that not only will Jenzabar RMS give them the comprehensive insight needed to focus their retention efforts and improve student persistence, but the data generated from the system will also have practical applications in the university’s assessment and accreditation efforts.”

Jenzabar’s Retention Management Solution is designed to help colleges and universities determine key factors that help predict student attrition, successfully identify at-risk students, and develop effective intervention strategies. By leveraging data from the institution’s various information systems, Jenzabar RMS provides the resources and tools needed to examine comprehensive historical and current campus data, allowing the institution to identify factors that impact retention. Campus personnel monitor at-risk situations online through Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution portal, track changes in student behavior and view complete audit trails of all completed intervention measures.

“Technology plays a key role in spotting early warnings signs of attrition and implementing a multifaceted approach to retention,” said Robert A. Maginn, Jenzabar Chairman and CEO. “As Harris-Stowe State University executes a sustainable retention strategy campus wide, we will work regularly with the university staff to ensure Jenzabar’s Retention Management Solution is helping them identify common characteristics among students who leave the institution.”
