iO Photos, like the recently launched iO Games, is another example of the value and innovation we provide to our digital cable customers.
Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) January 5, 2011
Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE: CVC) today launched “11 Days of Optimum Value to Kick Off 2011,” a promotional campaign to showcase value-added benefits customers receive by subscribing to one or more Optimum digital services - iO TV®, Optimum Online® and Optimum Voice®. To begin the campaign, Cablevision announced the debut of a new free service, iO Photos, which enables iO TV digital cable customers with Facebook accounts to view Facebook photos on their television.
The new iO Photos channel, available across Cablevision’s entire service area on channel 640, allows iO TV digital cable customers with a Facebook account to view and display Facebook photos on televisions throughout the home and easily move between pictures and television programming with a simple click of the remote. This new flexibility gives customers the opportunity to view and share in more places their own photos, other photos in which they have been tagged or even their Facebook friends’ albums.
“iO Photos, like the recently launched iO Games, is another example of the value and innovation we provide to our digital cable customers. These free channels change the way we interact not only with the television but with each other by creating a connected experience,” said John Trierweiler, executive vice president of product management at Cablevision. “Throughout our ‘11 Days of Value to Kick Off 2011’ campaign, we will underscore the popular features and value-added benefits that differentiate our Optimum television, phone and Internet services.”
Available on any iO TV digital set-top box in the home, there is no limit to the number of Facebook accounts one customer home can access. iO Photos users simply need to complete the registration process on Cablevision’s consumer web portal, Optimum.net, and accept the terms of service.
With iO Photos, customers can view Facebook:
- Newsfeed photos (including comments)
- Photos in which they have been tagged
- Friends’ albums
iO Photos is just the latest free enhancement to Cablevision’s iO TV service, following the recent launch of iO Games on Channel 610. With ActiveVideo®’s TAG Games customers can play a variety of puzzle, arcade and children’s games, and playing either on their own or against other iO TV customers in a unique house-to-house mode. iO Shortcuts, another popular iO TV service, allows customers to access sports, news, weather and traffic updates at the push of a button. iO Photos, iO Games and iO Shortcuts expand the role of the television and give iO TV customers more out of their television experience.
With nearly 3 million iO TV customers, 96 percent of Cablevision’s cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers. iO TV offers customers access to more than 475 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 46 channels of commercial-free digital music, thousands of on-demand titles available at all times – including thousands of free selections – an interactive programming guide, more than 100 free high-definition channels and uniquely valuable and relevant local content through News 12, MSG Varsity and companion interactive television destinations.
