"Before we started the show we wondered why there were no comedy shows in Oakland," says co-producer Samson Koletkar. "Either it doesn't work or no one did it right, and the only way to find out was to give it a shot. We took the plunge in May 2009 with Friday nights, in November 2009 we added Thursday nights, and in August 2010 we added Saturday nights. Starting in February 2010, COBO will run on Thursdays at 8pm, Fridays at 8pm and 10pm, & Saturdays at 8pm and 10pm. That's 5 shows every week. No one else is doing anything like this in Oakland."

"If you want to see quality comedy you no longer have to worry about crossing the bridge, overpriced parking, or 2 drink minimums. If you choose to eat, we have great food and drinks from Miss Pearl's Jam House and our friendly waitstaff is always ready to serve you," says co-producer Joe Gleckler. "Our lineups change weekly and feature a wide variety of comedians seen on Comedy Central, HBO, BET, late-night talk shows and more, plus local heroes and up-and-coming stars."

Samson Koletkar, resident host and co-producer, is the world's only Indian Jewish standup comedian. Born and raised in Mumbai, Koletkar has entertained audiences in India, Canada and throughout the U.S. with his thought-provoking satire and witty observations. He is the creator of nationally touring Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour, and has also toured with Pundits with Punchlines, Make Chai Not War, and Funatical Comedy Tour. Winner of 2010 AATC Comedy Competition, he has been featured on Asian Jewish Life and Indian Express, & has also appeared on HumDesi Radio (Canada) and CBS.

Joining him is co-producer Joe Gleckler, a veteran Bay Area performer. Joe grew up in Baltimore, and taught English as a second language for 2 years in Korea and 5 in Japan. He has performed at various clubs all over the Bay Area, and he also produced shows in San Francisco for over 5 years.

COBO runs Thursdays 8pm, Fridays 8pm & 10pm, and Saturdays 8pm & 10pm at Miss Pearl's Jam House at The Waterfront Hotel, 1 Broadway (at Jack London Square), Oakland, CA 94607. Venue is also handicap accessible. Tickets are $10 ($8 for Students, Seniors, and Peace Officers). The show features 6 comedians and runs for an hour and a half. Food and drinks are available at the show. Parking is available at Jack London Square garage and tickets are validated.

Check out for yourself why, week after week, more and more folks from all over the Bay Area are heading to Oakland for their weekly dose of laughter.
