We selected AuthenWare for three reasons: strong security without the use of hardware devices, system flexibility and user convenience - Jorge Linskens, CIO
Miami, FL (PRWEB) January 25, 2011
AuthenWare®, a leading cybersecurity software provider, today announced a new contract with the government of the City of Buenos Aires. The agreement, which includes licenses for up to 150,000 users, is designed to help authenticate and protect the credentials of both internal employees and external users of the citizen’s self-service portal, and other City applications. The AuthenWare technology incorporates keystroke dynamics, a form of behavioral biometrics, to recognize valid users and to stop identity theft, web fraud and other system intrusions.
“We selected AuthenWare for three reasons: strong security without the use of hardware devices, system flexibility and user convenience,” said Jorge Linskens, CIO of the City of Buenos Aires. “The software offers us a robust security solution that dramatically reduces the risk of identity theft and system breaches while providing high protection for our citizens and employees with no adoption impact.”
The City of Buenos Aires is the second-largest metropolitan area in South America. The City’s Mayor, Mauricio Macri, dedicated an entire section of the city to the advancement of technology. Modeled after California’s famous Silicon Valley, the city’s technology innovation sector utilizes academic resources to produce quality jobs and advanced training for the municipality’s citizens to meet the growing needs of global technology-sector businesses such as Apple, Research in Motion and Tata Consultancy Services. With such a strong emphasis on technology, the City is dually committed to the protection of corporate data and citizen identities, without imposing restrictive procedures that limit accessibility and productivity.
Under the agreement, the City of Buenos Aires will integrate AuthenWare’s flagship authentication technology with its case management and single sign-on (SSO) solution, protecting user id and password access to both internal and external applications. AuthenWare’s zero-footprint approach towards user validation and authentication incorporates a series of biometric security algorithms that record and measure how a person uniquely types their credentials. The multi-dimensional product combines the user’s typing information with other behavioral and environmental heuristics to ensure that rightful users are granted access to the appropriate City application, while stolen credentials are rendered completely useless.
“We are proud to be selected by the City of Buenos Aires as the second-factor security technology to help strengthen access to its systems and applications,” said Tom Helou, President and COO of AuthenWare. “The additional layer of protection that AuthenWare delivers to their existing single sign-on solution will ensure that only valid users can gain access and that credentials will not be used maliciously.”
“The Master Plan for creating the conditions so High Tech companies will invest in the City of Buenos Aires includes the adoption of state-of-the-art, world class technologies like AuthenWare,” said Francisco Cabrera, Minister of Economic Development for the City of Buenos Aires.
