Mr. Keating is widely respected in both the plaintiffs' and defense bars for his ability to deconstruct complex topics like products liability in the courtroom.
East Alton, IL (PRWEB) January 26, 2011
Simmons Browder Gianaris Angelides & Barnerd LLC, a national plaintiffs firm specializing in contingent fee litigation for businesses and individuals, announced today that Patrick J. Keating, an experienced commercial litigation attorney, has joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Since the early 1990s, Keating has tried dozens of cases involving complex commercial litigation and class action suits with an emphasis in transportation. He has handled numerous cases for many businesses and individuals against larger companies throughout the world. Throughout his career, he has appeared before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and has successfully resolved multi-million dollar product liability claims on behalf of his clients.
“The Simmons firm is very fortunate to retain Mr. Keating’s Of Counsel services,” Managing Partner Mike Angelides said. “Mr. Keating is widely respected in both the plaintiffs' and defense bars for his ability to deconstruct complex topics like products liability in the courtroom.”
Keating has been practicing for more than 18 years. A 1988 graduate of Princeton University, he received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1992, where he was an editor for the Journal of Legislation. Keating has published articles about transportation and commercial business litigation in several legal journals and belongs to a number of organizations, including the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association, an international non-profit Bar Association for those interested in aviation law. He has also maintained an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2002.
Firm Partner Derek Brandt heads the firm’s commercial litigation department, which distinguishes itself from other firms by representing clients on a contingent fee basis.
“Approaching commercial litigation on a contingency basis has allowed the firm to offer smaller businesses the ability to take on larger companies with more resources,” Brandt said. “We look forward to working with Mr. Keating, who will be an invaluable resource as we continue to strengthen our practice.”
The Simmons firm’s commercial litigation department has years of experience representing businesses and individuals in a wide range of commercial litigation including complex product liability matters, ERISA and fiduciary duty obligations, securities and financial matters, constitutional class actions and competition and antitrust.
