The fast-growing company began 2010 with a move to its new 12,000-square-foot corporate headquarters to accommodate the 50 additional positions needed to handle its rapidly expanding customer base. With all these positions now filled, including key additions to its management team including a new CFO and General Counsel, BlueGrace has more than 70 employees serving 2,500 customers and is once again actively recruiting. President and CEO Bobby Harris says he expects to add another 50 or more employees and 1,500 to 2,500 new customers during the next twelve months.
“Now that our management team and infrastructure are firmly in place, we are ready for the next logical step in our growth strategy,” said Harris, “the roll out of our new franchise program.” He said the addition of franchise partners is expected to play a key role in spreading the BlueGrace brand throughout the U.S. and add even more strength and stability to the company’s partnerships with its customers and partners. “This of course also has the potential to accelerate our rate of growth even further in the years ahead,” said Harris.
Some might be surprised that a company created only three years ago has come so far so fast, especially in today’s economy. But logistics industry veteran Harris, a firm believer that “there is always a market for the best,” says he has been confident that BlueGrace would thrive from day one. “We started this company with a core of extremely talented industry and technology experts and a clear vision of how we could improve the service that our competitors provided,” said Harris. “We knew that customers needed to reduce their transportation costs today more than ever, while also reducing the time it took to manage an often confusing and cumbersome process.”
To meet these needs, Harris decided that BlueGrace would be technology-driven, top to bottom, and invested in a custom-designed transportation management system (TMS) called BlueShip™ that simplified the process and provided online easy access to routing, tracking and reporting information whenever and wherever their customers needed it. More technological innovations soon followed, the next being the BlueGrace Mobile Freight Optimizer, the first iPhone application to provide real-time access to shipping quotes from multiple carriers wherever, as well as whenever, their customers needed it. The company also recently introduced its “Dock to Doc” technology giving customers online access to proof of delivery, original bills of lading and weight and inspection certificates.
