Miami International Mall, one of Miami’s leading shopping destinations, has named The League Against Cancer / Liga Contra el Cancer as its official 2011 “Hispanic Heritage Celebration” charity of choice. La Liga will receive 75 percent of the net proceeds from the weekend event which will celebrate the diverse cultures and flavors of various Latin American Countries during September.
The “Hispanic Heritage Celebration” will kick-off with the “Noche de Honor” VIP cocktail reception, where Liga Contra el Cancer will host a silent auction and local Hispanic leaders will be recognized.
“We are thrilled to partner with Miami International Mall in this festive celebration of Hispanic culture,” said Adriana Cora, executive vice president of Liga Contra el Cancer. “This will help create a greater awareness for our organization and assist us in our commitment to serving financially needy cancer patients.”
“La Liga is a vital part of the community and we are happy to help them in their efforts to assist cancer victims by providing free health care,” said Maria Prado, mall manager. “Miami International Mall looks forward to helping them raise much-needed funds through this weekend celebration.”
Telemundo 51 will serve as media partner for this year’s “Hispanic Heritage Celebration.”
The celebration is slated for September 30 – October 2, 2011.
The League Against Cancer / Liga Contra el Cancer was founded in Miami in 1975 as a community based, not for profit organization providing free medical care to needy cancer patients. More than 350 Florida physicians, who are board-certified in their specialties, volunteer their services to the League Against Cancer. League Against Cancer is the last resort for cancer victims who have no financial resources or health insurance. Since 1975, more than 50,000 low-income, uninsured men, women and children have received world-class medical treatment, screenings and support from the League Against Cancer, which represents a very significant economic saving to the State of Florida.
